The power to impress

The Cyrus i9-XR is the top model in the prestigious new XR Series. Its powerful amplifier delivers 91 watts per channel (at 6 ohms). With around 75% more power than the i7-XR, you’ll hear a big difference in sound. Ideal for larger rooms and less efficient speakers, the i9-XR goes louder and deeper. Even in smaller rooms, however, you’ll still notice a more expansive and dynamic sound – without losing any of the smaller amps precision and detail.

XR Series – Ground-up redesign

Nearly every aspect about the Cyrus XR Series is new. From the all-new pre-amplifier design, second generation DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) to the touch sensitive controls and high resolution display. What hasn’t changed is Cyrus’s dedication to the truest sound. The iconic, die-cast chassis also remains – a fan favourite that also enhances the sound quality.

Amplification – made better

The heart of this Cyrus amp is all-new and developed using expensive components. Built with relay input switches and Schottky diodes, the i9-XR provides a clean and precise input signal. By starting with such a clean, low distortion signal, the power amplifier doesn’t also amplify the distortion – giving you a much more natural sound.

The Cyrus sound

The new amplification also features a revised power supply. Combined with the over-sized toroidal transformer, you get effortless power, giving a wide dynamic range. This means that not only does the amp suit high-energy music, without running out of steam, it also resists harmonic compression – giving more ‘life’ and space around the music.

Built-in DAC with USB, coaxial and optical inputs

Featuring a 2nd generation QXR DAC and five digital inputs, the Cyrus i9-XR is the ideal way of upgrading all your digital sources at the same time as buying a new amplifier. Older or lower spec digital devices benefit greatly in terms of sound quality by using the high spec QXR DAC built into the Cyrus rather than their own. With twin optical and coaxial inputs, you can connect your network streamer, CD player, TV and games console. There’s also an asynchronous USB input. This lets you connect your PC or Mac and access stored or streaming music in high resolution – right up to 768 kHz file sample rate.

Tailor the digital sound to suit you

With seven different digital filter alignment options, you can tailor the sound to just the way you like it. Sharpen or smooth the sound, depending on your preferences and the matching components.

Superior turntable input

As well as four RCA line inputs, the i9-XR also comes with a high quality MM (Moving Magnet) turntable input. This low-noise design lets you get the best sound from your deck, without needing to add an extra phono pre-amp.

Enhanced headphone output

Just like the turntable input, the headphone output is a top quality device in its own right – rivalling some standalone headphone amps. With your headphones plugged in, a dedicated amplifier draws exclusive power from the large toroidal transformer, giving huge reserves of current. This means that even power-hungry headphones are driven efficiently, letting you hear your headphones to their full potential.

PSU-XR port for the next step-up

As good as the i9-XR is, it can be made better still by adding a PSU-XR power supply. Over the past three decades, Cyrus’s famous PSX power supplies have been a ‘must have’ upgrade, and the latest PSU-XR is no different. Adding a PSU-XR provides two channels of ultra-smooth sound to the pre-amplifier as well as a further 2-channel boost to the power amplifier. The result is even clearer, more spacious sound.

Enhanced Cyrus design

Now with a new Phantom Black finish and touch sensitive controls, the i9-XR’s style is better than ever. The die-cast casing is extremely solid and strongly resists both electrical and mechanical interference from surrounding sources. Integrated heat sink vents also keep it cool in the most discreet and stylish fashion. In terms of practically, Cyrus is a great space saver, with two units taking the space of one on most hi-fi shelves.
