- Multiple digital outputs (USB, AES, I²S, coaxial and optical) for broad compatibility.
- Supports PCM up to 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512.
- Provides a comprehensive range of streaming options including TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, DLNA/UPnP, AirPlay 2 and Internet radio.
- Play music from directly attached USB storage.
- Control it with the free MA Remote app and third party apps from Spotify, TIDAL and many others.
MA Player
MA Player is the high quality digital audio streaming platform which underpins Matrix Audio music streamers. With MA player, users can control audio devices on the network using mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, browse and play music from network drives or USB storage devices or stream music over the Internet.
In addition, MA Player also supports popular third party streaming technologies such as DLNA/UPnP, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect, allowing you to experience high resolution streaming using third party apps.
MA Remote
MA Remote is a free app which is available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. Through this app, you can browse and play music from your local music library, enjoy music from TIDAL, Qobuz and HIGHRESAUDIO, and listen to Internet radio using your Matrix Audio devices. MA Remote also allows you to manage the configuration of your Matrix Audio devices and apply firmware updates.
Integrated Touchscreen Display
Element S has a built-in 3.46″ high resolution colour touchscreen which helps you to operate the device and easily understand its status. When music is playing, the display shows the album art, album name, track title and artist name, as well as the source and sample rate. It enables you to more comprehensively master your music library and enjoy a better music listening experience.
Multiple digital outputs
The Element S has a range of digital audio outputs for broad compatibility with pretty much any DAC, including USB, AES, optical and coaxial S/PDIF, and IIS-LVDS.
USB DAC interface
The Element S music streamer’s USB audio output supports extremely high PCM and DSD sample rates, including PCM up to 32 bit / 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512. It has been carefully optimised to provide bit perfect high resolution audio to USB DACs.
The USB audio output has a 5 V / 1 A ultra-low noise power output. The power supply is processed by a multi-stage ultra-low noise linear regulator and a power filter circuit before being supplied to the USB device, to ensure best performance.
S/PDIF and AES outputs
Element S has premium optical and coaxial S/PDIF outputs, and a balanced AES digital audio output. These outputs support PCM sample rates up to 24 bit / 192 kHz and DSD64 via DoP (DSD over PCM).
IIS-LVDS output
The IIS-LVDS output of Element S supports PCM up to 32 bit / 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512. In order to maximise DAC compatibility, Matrix Audio provides four kinds of IIS-LVDS pin definition and two MCLK modes on this port, which can be configured through MA Remote app. The IIS-LVDS output is specially designed so that the front and back end devices are electrically isolated from one another, to eliminate noise.
Dual-frequency femtosecond clock
Element S is equipped with two ultra low phase noise femtosecond clocks from Accusilicon, which work as reference clock sources for sample rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz and their multiples. An FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) coordinates the clocks and manages the frequencies, to ensure high quality digital audio with low jitter and present more fantastic details of the music.
Gigabit Ethernet and Dual-band Wi-Fi
Both wired Ethernet and WiFi are provided. Gigabit Ethernet guarantees the stability and speed of high-resolution audio transmission in the network. If you have good WiFi coverage, then 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi connections can be good options as well. Get rid of the network cable and the embedded antenna of the Element S makes for a clean and tidy appearance.
