About the Graham Audio Chartwell LS3

The Chartwell LS3 is Graham Audio’s modern take on the compact monitor — a sequel to the earlier Swisstone LS3, significantly upgraded and now carrying the Chartwell name that has long been associated with British monitor excellence.

Where the LS3/5 and LS3/5A are faithful reproductions of BBC specifications, the Chartwell LS3 is free to take a different path. It shares their compact dimensions and sealed enclosure philosophy, but uses contemporary drive units chosen for their performance rather than their historical authenticity. The bass driver uses a polypropylene diaphragm and die-cast aluminium chassis with an exceptionally smooth frequency response — smooth enough that the crossover can be kept simple, which directly benefits transparency and timing. The tweeter is a bespoke unit custom-built for Graham Audio by SEAS.

The result is a speaker that sits naturally in the Graham Audio family without pretending to be something it isn’t. It is not a BBC monitor — it is a contemporary compact standmount designed by Derek Hughes, built to the same standard of engineering and finish, and voiced for the same musical values. Available in black or white high-gloss paint, with a magnetically attached grille that leaves the front baffle completely clean when removed.
