What does a Puritan mains conditioner do?

A Puritan mains conditioner filters out noise and interference contaminating your mains supply, helping your system sound cleaner, more dynamic and more natural. It also blocks unwanted DC in the AC supply, which can cause transformer hum and reduce performance. DC blocking is included as standard on all models except the PS106, where it’s available as an optional upgrade.

Which model should I choose?

The PSM136 and PSM156 Master Purifiers share the same chassis and current handling ability. The PSM156 offers Puritan’s most advanced noise filtering, while the PSM136 provides slightly less. The PSM1512 Master Purifier is essentially two PSM156 boards stacked in a double-height chassis, offering more outlets for larger systems. All three Master Purifiers include DC blocking as standard. The PS106 is the most affordable option, using simpler but still very effective filtering, with DC blocking available as an option.

Can I use a Puritan conditioner with power amplifiers?

Yes. Unlike many conditioners that restrict current flow, Puritan models are designed to handle high continuous and peak currents without choking dynamics. This makes them suitable not just for source components, but also for integrated and power amplifiers.
