Tellurium Q Ultra Black II RCA Cables

Tellurium Q don’t publish conductor material, gauge, or geometry for any cable in their range, and the Ultra Black II is no exception – this is deliberate company policy rather than an oversight on our part. Designer Geoff Merrigan, a trained chemist, develops the range at a private facility in Langport, Somerset, and has never confirmed what’s inside the sheath. What Tellurium Q will say is that Ultra Black II uses their TeCu connector – a locking RCA plug styled after WBT’s twist-lock thread but with a plastic rather than metal outer body.

Tellurium Q haven’t stated what TeCu stands for, but a tellurium copper alloy seems like the most likely candidate. It’s prized in precision engineering for machining far more easily than plain copper while barely giving up any electrical conductivity. That quality suits a threaded, twist-lock plug like this one, and would explain the company’s own name. Turning the collar clockwise clamps the ring onto the socket, giving a firmer connection than a standard push-fit RCA.

The cable is directional – an arrow on the sheath marks the intended signal direction, so it matters which end goes where. Ultra Black II sits in the middle of Tellurium Q’s Black family, between the Black II and the Black Diamond.
