About the miniDSP AMP-8
The AMP-8 is miniDSP’s 8-channel power amplifier, built around ICEpower Class D modules for a high power-to-size ratio in a compact 2U rack-mountable chassis. It’s designed to complement the Tide16 processor, but the AMP-8 works just as well with any processor, preamp or active crossover with balanced XLR outputs.
Each of the eight channels runs from a shared 1500W ICEpower switch-mode supply, delivering 300W per channel into 4 ohms or 150W into 8 ohms, with 2400W of peak headroom on tap. A 123dB signal-to-noise ratio and 0.0008% THD+N keep the amplifier’s own contribution to the sound close to zero, whether it’s driving a multiway active speaker system, a whole-home multizone install, or the full complement of channels behind a home theatre processor.
