The new Hegel H150 “The Prodigy” replaces the much-loved H120 and sits just below the H190v in Hegel’s integrated amplifier range. SoundEngine 2

The H150 employs Hegel’s SoundEngine 2 amplifier topology, allowing a damping factor higher than 2,000 together with extremely low distortion levels.

SoundEngine technology works rather like a noise-cancelling headphone. It compares the output of the amplifier with the input. It detects all the distortion and plays this forward into the speaker output, but in reverse phase. In this way, it cancels out distortion in real time, leaving you with only the most natural sound.

Seamless integration with external DACs

The H150 includes a coaxial digital output that can pass signals from its digital inputs directly to an external DAC. The DACs output can then be passed back to one of the amplifier’s analogue inputs. This “DAC loop” function means you can enjoy the flexibility of the H150’s connectivity and streaming features while still taking advantage of an outboard DAC if you choose. It’s a future-proof design that grows with you.
