Matrix Audio MD-1P Streaming Integrated Amplifier
The MD-1P is Matrix Audio’s most powerful streaming integrated amplifier, pairing a 300W-per-channel amplifier stage with dual switchable speaker outputs and a network streamer, DAC and phono stage in one chassis. HDMI ARC, two optical and two coaxial inputs, and HD Bluetooth cover pretty much any digital or analogue source. Internal NVMe storage bay and CD ripping via USB.

About the Matrix Audio MD-1P
The MD-1P is Matrix Audio’s higher-power streaming integrated amplifier – the same network streamer, DAC, preamp and one-box design as the MD-1, stepped up to a 300W-per-channel amplifier stage with dual switchable speaker outputs. It suits larger rooms, less efficient speakers, or anyone who wants to A/B two pairs of speakers from one amplifier via the remote. Everything else, from the phono stage to the streaming platform, is shared with the standard MD-1.
Power and amplification
Output is rated at 300W per channel into 8 ohms, with output impedance below 3mΩ and +33dB of gain for a firmer grip on demanding speaker loads. Two pairs of Matrix Audio’s own gold-plated, solid copper speaker terminals are fitted rather than one, switchable via the IR remote for quick A/B comparisons between two speaker pairs, or for driving two rooms from a single amplifier (2–16Ω per pair alone, 4–16Ω when both are run together).
Sound and conversion
The digital side runs on two custom femtosecond clocks, one referenced to the 44.1kHz family and one to 48kHz, paired with an FPGA handling clock division and jitter reduction. The digitally-controlled analogue volume stage provide 256 steps from -80dB to +12dB in 0.5dB increments, with the voltage curve tuned to keep left and right channels in phase even at low volumes, plus 12-step channel balance for fine positioning.
Sources and connectivity
A built-in MM phono stage with a RIAA-tuned, low-noise design means a turntable connects straight in, alongside XLR and RCA line inputs, with a bypass mode that turns the MD-1P into a pure power amp for an AV system.
On the digital side there’s HDMI ARC for a TV, USB for a computer, two optical and two coaxial inputs for other digital sources, and Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD and LDAC for convenience.
Preamp and subwoofer outputs share the same volume control as the speaker terminals. The MD-1P gets dual low-frequency outputs rather than one, for larger rooms running two subwoofers, with a trigger connection to bring them on automatically.
Storage and everyday use
An NVMe SSD bay gives the MD-1P its own local library, shared over the network via SMB or as a NAS for other streamers in the house. CDs rip automatically from an external USB drive through the MA Remote App, turning a physical collection into digital files without a computer. MD-1P is certified Roon Ready, with TIDAL, Qobuz, Audirvana and the usual streaming services all supported.
