miniDSP SHD Studio is a powerful digital audio processor incorporating Dirac Live®, the world’s premier room correction solution. It packs the same powerful 2 in / 4 out audio processing capabilities as the full size miniDSP SHD, but without the analogue inputs and outputs.
The miniDSP SHD Studio is a certified Roon Ready network player. Being Roon Ready means that miniDSP uses Roon streaming technology, for an incredible user interface, simple setup, rock solid daily reliability and the highest levels of audio performance, without compromise. The quad core processor in the SHD Studio also runs Volumio, a popular open-source network streamer, providing web based access to music from sources as diverse as a USB stick to Internet Radio and Spotify.
The SHD Studio fits right into any digital processing path, with AES/EBU, S/PDIF, optical and USB audio inputs, and four output channels on both S/PDIF and AES/EBU.
The SHD Studio includes a suite of powerful but user friendly DSP audio tuning software, including ten band parametric EQ per output channel, crossovers up to 48 dB per octave, compressor / limiter and a flexible matrix mixer. Applications range from subwoofer integration to a two way active speaker. Outputs 3 and 4 also drive the headphone jack on the front panel for a uniquely flexible digital processing solution.

Can I use the SHD Studio with an external DAC?
Yes. The SHD Studio is a digital-only processor designed to connect to your DAC via AES or coaxial. It’s ideal for users who already own a high-end DAC.
Is Dirac Live included?
Absolutely. The SHD Studio comes with a full licence for Dirac Live room correction software, so you can calibrate your system for your room and speaker setup.
Do I need a microphone to use Dirac Live?
Yes, a measurement microphone is required. We recommend the miniDSP UMIK-1 or UMIK-2 for accurate measurements.
Can I use it with Roon?
Yes. The SHD Studio is fully Roon Ready, so it can be added as a networked audio device in your Roon setup.
Does it support streaming services like Spotify or TIDAL?
Yes. With built-in Volumio, the SHD Studio supports streaming from Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz and other sources, all controlled from your phone or tablet.
How does it compare to the regular SHD model?
The SHD Studio omits the DAC and analogue inputs/outputs found on the standard SHD. If you only need digital processing and already have a DAC, the Studio offers the same performance and Dirac capabilities in a simpler, more focused package.
Is it difficult to set up?
Not especially. The Device Console software is easy to use, miniDSP has a large library of task-focused guides to help you get started and Dirac Live walks you through the measurement and correction process. If you need help, we’re just a phone call or email away.
