miniDSP ADept MM/MC phono stage and ADC

The miniDSP ADept is an audiophile analogue to digital converter and MM/MC phono preamp with DSP equalisation. Use it to integrate your turntable or other analogue source with an audio processor or DAC, or to archive your vinyl or tape collection as high quality digital audio.

The miniDSP ADept is an audiophile analogue to digital converter and MM/MC phono preamp with DSP equalisation. It provides USB, S/PDIF and TOSLINK digital outputs, sample rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz and remote control. Use it to integrate your turntable or other analogue source with an audio processor or DAC, or to archive your vinyl or tape collection in digital format.

Analogue Inputs

ADept has two analogue inputs. The RCA input can be switched between line level, MM phono and MC phono modes. There is also an additional line level balanced XLR input. You can easily switch between inputs using the remote.

MM/MC Phono Stage

The built-in phono stage includes adjustable input gain, as well as resistance and capacitance loadings. The settings are well thought out to provide broad compatibility with a wide variety of cartridges.

The table below shows the effect of the low, medium and high settings for gain, resistance and capacitance on each input.

  1. For phono input, the values provided are the highest recommended cartridge output voltage at a stylus velocity of 5 cm/second.
  2. For RCA and XLR line-level input, the values provided are the maximum RMS voltage that can be applied before clipping. Note that the RCA and XLR inputs do not have a low gain option – when adjusting the settings using the front panel or remote control, the low gain LED will simply be skipped over.
  3. The XLR input has fixed resistance and capacitance.

Switchable EQ Curves

ADept goes beyond most analogue phono stages by providing multiple switchable equalisation curves, allowing you to get the most from older recordings. As well as the standard RIAA curve, you can also select Decca and Columbia curves.

Digital Outputs

ADept provides USB, S/PDIF coaxial and TOSLINK optical digital outputs. The output sample rate can be switched in steps ranging from 44.1kHz to 192kHz.

Versatility

You can use ADept to integrate your turntable or other analogue source with an audio processor or DAC with digital inputs, providing a convenient way to add vinyl or tape playback to existing digital audio systems.

Connect ADept’s USB output to a computer equipped with suitable recording software and you can use it to archive your tape or vinyl record collection as high quality digital audio files.
