About the miniDSP UMIK-2
The miniDSP UMIK-2 is a reference-class acoustic measurement microphone. It works perfectly with Room EQ Wizard (REW), Dirac Live and other popular measurement software. It comes with individual calibration files for horizontal and vertical placement, providing highly accurate measurements in either orientation.
miniDSP’s original UMIK-1 microphone is the current standard for acoustic measurement. The miniDSP UMIK-2 takes all of the best features from the UMIK-1, but takes its performance and capabilities to new levels. UMIK-2 is equipped with a larger, more sensitive microphone capsule and a high end ADC, which provides variable sample rates of up to 192 kHz. This enables it to reliably measure frequencies up to 96 kHz – two full octaves more than UMIK-1.
UMIK-2 is designed to be connected directly to a computer via USB, without the need for an external mic preamp or analogue-to-digital converter (ADC). As a USB Audio Class 2 device, operation is plug-and-play on macOS, iOS and Linux. Driver software is included for WIndows.

Do I actually need the UMIK-2 for room correction?
For subwoofer integration and room correction work, the audible band (20 Hz–20 kHz) is what matters, and UMIK-1 already covers that accurately. UMIK-2 is aimed at users who want reference-class measurement accuracy, additional headroom, or who need to measure beyond the audible range.
Does UMIK-2 need special drivers?
UMIK-2 is a USB Audio Class 2 device. On macOS and Linux it’s plug-and-play. On Windows you will need to install the driver provided by miniDSP.
Is UMIK-2 compatible with REW and Dirac Live?
Yes, both Room EQ Wizard and Dirac Live fully support UMIK-2 and the included calibration files.
