Neat Iota Alpha II Speakers

The Neat Iota Alpha II is one of the most ambitious designs in the Neat range. A compact floorstanding speaker that delivers a genuinely full-range performance from a cabinet small enough to sit discreetly in almost any room.

The engineering that makes this possible is characteristically unconventional. An upward-firing mid/bass driver and a downward-firing subwoofer work together to project sound into the room from the floor up, creating a spacious, immersive presentation that bears no relationship to the speaker’s modest footprint. A 50mm EMIT planar magnetic tweeter adds speed, openness and fine tonal detail at the top of the frequency range. The crossover is hand-built using premium components and point-to-point wiring, preserving the clarity and musical coherence that the driver configuration creates.

The result is a speaker that sounds considerably larger than it looks. Bass extends to 33Hz with real weight and texture. Voices and instruments are presented with a natural, fluid quality that draws you into the recording rather than calling attention to the speaker itself. And at higher volumes the Alpha II maintains its composure – dynamics are handled with confidence, larger-scale passages arriving with the kind of authority that compact speakers rarely manage.

At 45 cm tall including spikes, the Iota Alpha II can be placed almost anywhere. It is designed for real rooms and real listening positions, not idealised acoustic environments. Built and tuned by ear in Teesdale, County Durham compact, confident and unmistakably Neat.
